Reinsurance in Flux: Weill to Offer Legal Update at Agent Summit

Expert Andrew Weill will present ‘Legal Update: CFCs and NCFCs’ as part of the Reinsurance Symposium at this year’s Agent Summit.

LAS VEGAS — Organizers announced that Andrew Weill, principal of Weill & Mazer, will return to the Agent Summit stage to present “Legal Update: CFCs and NCFCs” during this year’s Reinsurance Symposium. Scheduled for May 19–22, 2019, at the Venetian & Palazzo Resort Hotel Casinos in Las Vegas, the reinsurance portion of the agenda will take place on Wednesday, May 22.

Weill noted the industry is beginning to see more developments, including IRS audit activity, affecting the common F&I structures. At 10:25 a.m., his featured reinsurance presentation is designed to bring the latest news on recent cases (including Syzygy Insurance Co.’s recent IRS dispute), what appears to be in the pipeline, and how it all affects the best current strategies for dealers.

“It is an honor and a pleasure to have the opportunity to speak again at Agent Summit,” said Weill. “This is a vital opportunity for the agent community to get the most up-to-date information on topics of relevance.  The reinsurance world in particular is in a state of flux, and I’m pleased to join the other top flight speakers to try to make some sense of the complex and confusing environment.”

Weill is a Certified Tax Specialist and a leading authority on litigation and tax controversies involving structures taxed as insurance and reinsurance, including tax audits and other compliance issues. His clients include car dealers and dealerships, domestic and foreign companies, and individuals and entities involved in aftermarket financial products for the automotive industry.

“Andrew is an experienced tax professional and more than qualified to speak on the topic of CFCs and NCFCs,” said Agent Summit show chair and publisher of Agent Entrepreneur and F&I and Showroom, David Gesualdo. “But his time spent as president of the board of directors of the National Association of Dealer Counsel will offer attendees an outlook and wealth of experience they could not get anywhere else.”
